Edgar Bergen

AMERICAN VENTRILOQUIST

Edgar Bergen was first heard over-the-air on Rudy Vallee’s “Royal Gelatin Hour” in 1936, accompanied by Charlie McCarthy, the wooden dummy who added color to the act with his flippant verbal assaults. Bergen was involved in radio broadcasting for over 20 years.
