1. NAB Files Reply Comments in ATSC 3.0 Proceeding
One big thing: This week, NAB filed reply comments in the Federal Communication Commission’s (FCC) ATSC 3.0 proceeding.
📺 These comments highlight the need for the Commission to act expeditiously to facilitate the transition to ATSC 3.0 so that consumers don’t have to wait for the exciting benefits NextGen TV has to offer.
NextGen TV delivers a better and more accessible free television experience, including clearer picture and sound, more localized and detailed emergency alerts with maps and multilingual information, and enhanced captioning and audio options. Completing the transition ensures viewers can reliably access these improvements, especially during disasters when other networks may fail.
2. NBA All-Star Game Shows Power of Local Television
What’s happening: This year’s NBA All-Star Game averaged 8.8 million viewers — an 87% jump from last year and the most-watched All-Star Game since 2011.
🏀 Why it matters: Broadcast across NBC, Peacock and Telemundo, this event shows that consumers value choice and when given the opportunity to watch on their local TV stations, they show up.

6. 2026 PILOT Innovation Challenge Now Accepting Submissions
Applications are now open for the 2026 PILOT Innovation Challenge. The Innovation Challenge offers startup companies the opportunity to showcase solutions that address real challenges facing broadcasters today.
Once again, PILOT is collaborating with the Startup Pavilion at NAB Show. Any Startup Pavilion exhibitor with a product or solution that is relevant to broadcasters is eligible to apply.
Up to three winners will receive the opportunity to join a panel presentation about their company or product at the 2026 NAB Show. Winners will also get the opportunity to contribute a guest blog to the PILOT blog and have a one-on-one coaching session with NAB’s chief innovation officer about how to get the most out of their time spent at NAB Show.
