1. NAB Supports House Leaders’ Call for FCC to Modernize Ownership Rules
One big thing: This week, the House Subcommittee on Communications and Technology held a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) oversight hearing.
During this hearing, Chairmen Brett Guthrie (KY-2) and Richard Hudson (NC-9) urged the FCC to modernize outdated ownership rules and lift the national TV ownership cap.
NAB President and CEO Curtis LeGeyt: “Their support reflects growing recognition that modernizing these rules is essential to ensuring local stations can compete, innovate and continue serving their communities with trusted information.”

2. Local Broadcasters Provide Vital Infrastructure to American Life
A new study conducted by Woods & Poole Economics, Inc. with support from BIA Advisory Services, local broadcasting fuels $1.19 trillion in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and supports 2.46 million jobs nationwide.
NAB President and CEO Curtis LeGeyt: "No other industry gives more to Americans for free. This report reinforces that broadcasters are not only essential to our democracy and daily lives, but to the strength of our economy, as well.”
What's happening: Fans are sharing their frustration about sports moving behind paywalls like Prime and Netflix. We want to urge Washington to keep live sports on free, local television.
🏀 Game On is a new site for fans with tools for broadcasters, highlighting how local stations deliver live sports coverage that is universally accessible without a subscription, internet connection or login.
