1. Jeanna Berge Appointed to NAB Board

Jeanna Berge, iHeartMedia market president in Eau Claire, Wis., and Rochester, Minn., has been appointed to the NAB Radio Board of Directors.

  • Berge was appointed by Radio Board Chair Collin Jones and assumes the board seat of Joel McCrae.

The 2024 NAB Board of Directors election will be conducted by Vote-Now.com from February 8 to April 10.

  • What's happening: The 2024 election is for even-numbered radio districts and six of the at-large television seats. The eligible radio districts up for election are listed below followed by the election schedule.
  • 2024 Radio Districts
    District 2 -  New York, New Jersey
    District 4 - Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia
    District 6 -  North Carolina, South Carolina
    District 8 -  Louisiana, Mississippi
    District 10 – Indiana
    District 12 - Missouri, Kansas
    District 14 - Iowa, Wisconsin
    District 16 - Colorado, Nebraska
    District 18 - Southern Texas
    District 20 - Montana, Idaho, Wyoming
    District 22 - Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah
    District 24 - Southern California, Guam, Hawaii, American Samoa, MP (Northern Mariana Islands)

2024 Schedule of Electronic NAB Board Elections

  • February 8 – Notice requesting nominations goes out to all membership from Vote-Now.com
  • March 8 – Nominations window closes andcandidates verified for eligibility
  • March 14 – Ballots sent to voting representatives via Vote-Now.com
  • April 8 – Ballots due
  • April 10 – Notification of winners and determination if run-off election required

6. NAB on the Move

NAB held our winter board meeting in D.C. this week. FCC Commissioner Nathan Simington chatted with NAB President and CEO Curtis LeGeyt during the session. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (LA-4) attended a fundraiser with broadcasters on Monday night and NABPAC held a separate fundraiser on Wednesday for Sen. Jon Tester (MT).

Last week, NAB Senior Vice President, Government Relations Jack Smedile presented a Washington update at the South Carolina Broadcasters Association (SCBA) Awards of Distinction. Also at this event, former SCBA Executive Director Margaret Wallace was presented the 2024 Honorary Life Membership Award.

Earlier this week, Vice President of Government Relations Charlyn Stanberry (pictured right) participated on a panel on communicating the advocacy work of government relations teams at the Public Affairs Council’s Advocacy Conference in Austin, Texas.
