1. One Big Thing: Ford Commits to AM Radio

🚗 Ford Motor Company announced that it has reconsidered removing AM radio from future vehicles in the U.S. and will now include the technology in their newer model cars.

  • "NAB commends Ford for committing to keep AM radio in their vehicles, which will keep Americans safe and informed, particularly in times of emergency. With tens of millions of listeners, AM radio continues to serve as a vital lifeline to the public and a critical source of community news and exchange of diverse ideas," said NAB President and CEO Curtis LeGeyt.

Please continue to urge your listeners to ask their legislators to support the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act to ensure continued consumer access to AM radio in all vehicles.


2. Biden Announces FCC Nominations

President Joe Biden has nominated Anna Gomez to serve on the Federal Communications Commission. The President also renominated current Commissioners Geoffrey Starks and Brendan Carr.

  • "NAB looks forward to the confirmation process and learning more about Ms. Gomez's commitment to the critical services local television and radio stations provide to their communities," said LeGeyt.

3. Register Now: Psychological Safety for Leaders

4. AI: An Early View of Its Impact on Broadcasting

Anna Chauvet, vice president, Public Policy, NAB, wrote for the NAB Blog this week about how artificial intelligence brings great potential, but also concerns to broadcasting.

  • 🤖 "The responsible development and use of AI should ensure the integrity of our broadcasters' work and the trust that the public puts in it, as well as adequately compensate broadcasters for use of their valuable copyrighted content," Chauvet said.
