📃 This legislation would level the playing field by enabling fair negotiations between news publishers and dominant digital platforms for the market value of their local content.
We thank Sens. Amy Klobuchar (MN) and John Kennedy (LA) for their leadership on this important legislation.
2. Performance Royalty Bill Introduced in Senate
This week, the American Music Fairness Act (AMFA) was introduced in the Senate. NAB strongly opposes the AMFA, which disregards the value of radio and would undermine our critical public service to line the pockets of multinational billion-dollar record labels.
250 bipartisan members of Congress support the Local Radio Freedom Act, which opposes a performance tax.
🤝 We thank Reps. Jamie Raskin (MD-08), Ted Lieu (CA-33) and John Yarmuth (KY-03) for their leadership on this legislation. We'll keep you updated as this legislation progresses through the Senate.
