Modernizing Media Regulations

Removing Outdated Restrictions to Compete Effectively in Today’s Marketplace

NAB has strongly supported the FCC’s initiative to modernize its rules applicable to radio and TV broadcasters and will continue to support additional deregulation. Last year, we achieved notable successes, including a significant reform of the FCC’s analog-era children’s television programming rules; an update of the process by which TV stations elect must-carry or retransmission consent; and the removal or reform of other paperwork and filing requirements burdening both radio and TV stations. We expect further progress on this front in 2020.
