Stories and Perspectives

Shooting Craps with Barbara Eden

I attended my first NAB show in 1988 and ran across the badge from it a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't help but stop and reminisce for a minute. The show in 1988 featured a keynote by President Ronald Reagan on April 10th. Here is a link to the transcript of the speech if you're interested.

Additionally, I got to meet Dick Clark in the elevator at the Las Vegas Hilton and my wife and I shot craps with "I Dream of Jeanie" herself, the great Barbara Eden. Talk about star power, the President, Dick Clark and Barbara Eden. We took in a legendary Vegas show too (Siegfried and Roy)... not bad for my first trip to Vegas!

But most important was the industry connections I made and have carried throughout my career. 35 years after that first trip, I'll be attending with the great privilege of serving on the NAB Radio Board. I could never have imagined how my career would unfold back in 1988, but I've been truly blessed. I've made many trips to Vegas since then. BUT, Thank god what happened in Vegas, didn't stay in Vegas. It helped me get started on an incredible broadcasting journey. See you in Vegas!
