Watch What You Watch

The National Association of Broadcasters joined Girl Scouts of the USA, the Creative Coalition and the National Cable and Telecommunications Association in creating a national public service announcement (PSA) to promote healthy media images for youth. The "Watch What You Watch" campaign encourages audiences to pay attention to media messages, particularly the ways in which women and girls are portrayed across mediums. Now more than ever, tools such as media literacy, public education and career exploration can be invaluable to young people. "Watch What You Watch" offers a clearinghouse of resources and tools that girls, parents, communities and the media industry can use to help young people encounter and use media content that inspires, empowers and engages.

"Watch What You Watch" has been a successful campaign throughout the country. In fact, the Alliance for Women in Media recently honored the PSA with a Gracie Award, which recognizes exemplary programming created for women, by women and about women in all facets of electronic media, as well as individuals who have made contributions to the industry.
