WJON-AM provided this description of its accomplishments in 2005: "WJON-AM 1240 broadcasts its 1,000-watt AM signal into the very heart of Central Minnesota. For over 55 years, WJON has felt the pulse of its local community and has been compelled to respond. In '05, WJON kept its local community of 64,000 informed with 60,372 combined minutes of news, sports and weather updates. Community-focused programming and PSAs could be heard on a daily basis. Over 10,000 minutes of airtime was dedicated to educating listeners about organizations in need, and $18,000 in advertising was donated to causes ranging from the American Cancer Society to the College of St. Benedict and St. John's University fine arts programs. WJON joined eight major events, some of which raised $953,528 in funds some, simply raising awareness. In all cases, the WJON staff was proud to lend their time and support. WJON employees did not limit their dedication to community to the inside of office walls, either. Sixty-four percent of the station's staff members individually volunteered for a total of 2,000 hours last year, personally helping 40 different organizations."
