NAB CRYSTAL RADIO AWARD PRESENTED TO KUDL-FM

LAS VEGAS, NV - KUDL-FM Kansas City, MO today was awarded the National Association of Broadcasters Crystal Radio Award. Since 1987, the NAB Crystal Radio Awards have recognized radio stations for their outstanding year-round commitment to community service.

NAB selected 10 winners from a pool of 50 finalists. Recipients were recognized at today's Radio Luncheon in Las Vegas.

KUDL-FM provided this description of its accomplishments in 2005:

"Soft rock 98.1 KUDL has responded to the needs of our local and global community for more than 25 years. In '05, KUDL helped to raise more than $3 million for Kansas City area charitable causes through sponsorship of 30 community events, including our signature Adopt-a-Family Radiothon resulting in one-quarter million dollars in pledges of toys, clothing, gifts and a holiday meal for more than 3,000 needy families. In just four days following Hurricane Katrina, KUDL launched a matching campaign that raised more than $500,000 in cash donations and four truckloads of supplies for relief efforts through Heart to Heart International. KUDL morning show host Dan Hurst traveled with Heart to Heart to deliver medical supplies to the gulf region and spend the week working in a medical unit. KUDL met with 60 top community leaders to determine the "Top Ten Issues" of concern to Kansas Citians. As a result, KUDL committed $2 million in airtime through 2,800 promotional announcements, 30 remote broadcasts, 7,200 PSAs, 52 public affairs programs and 1,560 newscasts of stories highlighting the 10 key community issues."

For more information on KUDL's accomplishments, contact Cindy Schloss, vice president and market manager, at 913-677-8998.

The Radio Luncheon, sponsored by ASCAP, featured a keynote address by Walt Mossberg, technology columnist for The Wall Street Journal. During the luncheon, Dick Purtan, legendary host of Oldies 104.3 WOMC Detroit's "Morning Show with Purtan's People," was inducted into the NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame.
