NAB CRYSTAL RADIO AWARD PRESENTED TO KOZT-FM LAS VEGAS, NV - KOZT-FM Fort Bragg, CA today was awarded the National Association of Broadcasters Crystal Radio Award. Since 1987, the NAB Crystal Radio Awards have recognized radio stations for their outstanding year-round commitment to community service. NAB selected 10 winners from a pool of 50 finalists. Recipients were recognized at today's Radio Luncheon in Las Vegas. KOZT-FM provided this description of its accomplishments in 2005: "KOZT is local radio. Locally owned and programmed. The Coast was the only station on-air throughout the '05 floods; the only station to broadcast emergency evacuation notices, '05's Tsunami alert and updates on wildfires threatening schools and homes. Repeatedly the only station on-air through storms, floods, road closures and power outages, KOZT also posts updates at kozt.com, accessed nearly 10 million times in '05, and our interactive 800-39-COASTline, used 26,400 times. KOZT was proud to spearhead dozens of fund-raising events including our COAST auction, helping this county of 89,000 finance three busloads of volunteers, medical personnel and supplies to aid Katrina victims. KOZT helped local non-profits raise over $1 million with airtime equal in value to 60% of net sales, plus sponsorships and remote broadcasts, all at no charge, generally including equipment, website presence and volunteers. The Coast airs frequent editorials on local issues and offers the only daily local newscasts, critical in this rural area without daily newspapers or local television. Four-time NAB Crystal Radio Award and five-time NAB Marconi Radio Award finalist, KOZT received the coveted "Rock Station of the Year" award in 2002 and the 2003 NAB Crystal Radio Award. The Coast celebrates 15 years of local programming and unwavering commitment to local service." For more information on KOZT's accomplishments, contact Tom Yates, general partner, at 707-964-7277. The Radio Luncheon, sponsored by ASCAP, featured a keynote address by Walt Mossberg, technology columnist for The Wall Street Journal. During the luncheon, Dick Purtan, legendary host of Oldies 104.3 WOMC Detroit's "Morning Show with Purtan's People," was inducted into the NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame. NAB2006
