FCC Announces New Electronic Filing Requirement for Petitions Concerning Must-Carry, Retransmission Consent, and Other Issues
Effective January 3, 2012, the FCC will no longer accept Cable Special Relief (CSR) and Cable Show Cause (CSC) petitions filed on paper. The new electronic filing requirement will affect broadcasters because these filings include petitions to modify a station’s market for purposes of cable carriage, must-carry complaints, complaints relating to retransmission consent, petitions to have a station designated “significantly viewed” and petitions concerning the enforcement of network non-duplication, syndicated exclusivity and sports blackout requirements. All Stations Must Report on Nationwide EAS Test by December 27
FCC rules require that all EAS Participants report to the FCC on the results of their participation in the nationwide EAS test by December 27, 2011. Stations must report on whether, and from whom, they received the alert message and whether they rebroadcast it, among other basic information.

New License Renewal Cycle Started June 1, 2011
Radio stations in Alabama and Georgia must have filed their license renewal applications on or before December 1, 2011. Post-filing on-air announcements for these stations must be aired on January 1 and 16, and February 1 and 16. Full Article >
