Clear Channel Kicks Off St. Jude Kids Radiothon Season

James Fortune for RadioCares for St. JudeMore than 70 radio stations, including Clear Channel, kicked off the Radio Cares for St. Jude Kids® radiothon season. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is one of the world's premier research and treatment centers for pediatric cancer and other deadly childhood diseases.

Around 180 record label and radio station personnel toured the hospital, meeting with patients and families to hear their stories and learn why this program is critical to the hospital. Attendees also learned about the latest medical advancements and received tips on producing a successful radiothon to help raise awareness for St. Jude. The weekend concluded with the annual radio station dinner and a special performance by award-winning gospel music artist James Fortune, who also serves on the Radio Cares advisory council.

Listeners can find a live radiothon in their area through www.radiocaresforstjude.org. Radio Cares for St. Jude Kids has raised more than $12 million for St. Jude since 2002.

Country Cares "No Shave November" Benefits St. Jude

Warner Music Nashville challenged Music Row and Country Radio to enter their "No Shave November." The $30 entry fee benefits St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

On October 31, participants will post a photo of themselves on Facebook sporting a clean shave and displaying that day’s newspaper. On November 30, participants submit photos of their final facial hair, again with that day's newspaper. The finalists will receive prizes at Warner Music Nashville’s "Beard Bash" and a panel of celebrity judges will crown the "No Shave November Champion."

New York Radio Station Raises $42,000 for St. Jude

Radio Stations Riase Money for St. JudeBold Gold Media’s WDNB-FM 102 Liberty, N.Y., raised $42,000 for St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis during its first Country Cares For St. Jude Kids Radiothon. The two day Radiothon featured calls of support and gratitude from Country Cares founder Randy Owen and country music artists Josh Thompson and Amber Hayes. More than 50 businesses in Thunder Country contributed to the cause by selling Boot Cards for a minimum $1 donation.

“With all that has happened in our community… Hurricane Irene, a tropical storm and flooding… our ThunderHeads still found the time to reach out to help others while in need themselves,” said Paul Ciliberto, host of Ciliberto & Friends.

Sponsors included M & M Auto Group, Yellow Cab, Formaggio Cheese, Catskill Regional Medical Center, Hilltop Homes and Bethel Woods Center For The Arts.

Davidson Media's Hispanic Stations Raise $450,000

Davidson Media GroupDavidson Media Groups’s 11 Hispanic market radio stations raised $450,000 during the annual Promesa y Esperanza radiothon to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. During the two-day live event, the stations dedicated more than 30 hours of programming to raise funds for St. Jude and included numerous heartwarming patient stories. Since its inception in 1997, Promesa y Esperanza has raised more than $74 million towards St. Jude's mission of finding cures for chronic illnesses and saving children’s lives.

The participating Davidson Media stations are located in Charlotte, Durham, N.C., Kansas City, Louisville, Minneapolis, Nashville, Norfolk, Va., Philadelphia, Providence, Richmond, Va. and Springfield, Mass.
