Public Service Campaign Spotlight: Horn of Africa Relief

Across the eastern Horn of Africa, more than 13 million people—a number greater than the populations of Los Angeles and New York City combined—are in need of emergency assistance to survive. Millions of people are affected in Ethiopia, Djibouti and Kenya, and in Somalia tens of thousands of people have died as a result of the crisis.

To address this growing issue, USAID and the Ad Council have come together to create a campaign to spread awareness of the crisis in the Horn and to encourage Americans to share the facts. The campaign enlists celebrity talent such as Uma Thurman, Geena Davis, Josh Harnett, Chanel Iman and Dr. Jill Biden to encourage Americans to spread awareness of the crisis, support the humanitarian organizations conducting the relief operations, and learn more about the solutions. The campaign is titled FWD, or famine, war and drought, which stands for the three crises affecting the Horn.

By airing the campaign PSAs, stations can help raise awareness and donations. PSAs are available for preview and download here.
