Congressional PSAs Now Available for Broadcast Last month, NAB's Public Service Initiatives division invited members of Congress and their families to tape two, professionally-produced, 30-second public service announcements (PSAs) on issues of concern to their constituents. For the past 25 years, NAB has hosted this Congressional Public Service Announcement program during off-election cycles. This year, nearly 200 members of Congress and their spouses from 46 states and Puerto Rico participated in the program. They appeared in announcements on health issues, including breast cancer awareness, mental health awareness, skin cancer prevention and heart health, as well as other important social topics, including volunteerism, emergency preparedness, literacy and online predators. NAB is pleased to offer these announcements to stations to air through December 15, 2011. Stations can select and download the broadcast-quality PSAs featuring their representatives, who participated in this year's program, at http://nab.psamedia.org/. To access regional spots, stations should first register to create a login account; then click on their state folder from the homepage. Stations can then select and download PSAs featuring their respective members of Congress. NAB has also arranged for one SD feed on July 21 and one HD feed on July 22 for television broadcasters to take down the spots. The time code for downloading PSAs from the satellite feed is available here. For more information contact Allison Kreutzjans, manger, NAB Public Service Initiatives, at (202) 429-5448. |
