Broadcasters' Public Service

America's radio and television broadcasters play a vital role in their communities. By providing lifesaving information, emergency alerts, weather updates and other important news, local broadcasters are dedicated to serving their communities. Below are a few examples that demonstrate broadcasters' public service efforts.

Clear Channel Radio and the USO
Clear Channel Radio and the USO recently announced they have joined forces on a campaign to support U.S. troops and their family members. This year Clear Channel Radio and the USO developed a series of public service announcements (PSAs), which will air on more than 850 stations across the country. An iheartradio channel has also been developed for the campaign and features photos, videos and interviews with troops. Clear Channel Radio and the USO have been working in partnership since 2002. A copy of the press release announcing the campaign is available here.

KINK-FM Truckload of Coats
KINK-FM Portland, Ore. challenged listeners to fill two 50-foot Safeway trucks with coats, gloves, hats and other winter items during their annual Truckload of Coats on October 22, 2010. KINK-FM broadcast live from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. from two Portland Safeway locations and collected donations on site. All donated items will be distributed by Transition Projects Inc. which serves individuals and families who are transitioning from homelessness to housing. A copy of the KINK-FM announcement is available here.
