FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski to Speak During 2010 NAB Show

Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski, will deliver a keynote speech during the 2010 NAB Show in Las Vegas, show organizers announced today. Genachowski's remarks will be made on Tuesday, April 13 at 9 a.m.

"We are delighted that Chairman Genachowski will be joining us at this year's NAB Show," said NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith. "As the world's largest showcase of technologies from across the communications ecosystem, we're pleased to present Chairman Genachowski with a high-profile platform to share his views on communications policy and the future of free and local broadcasting."

Chairman Genachowski has two decades of experience in public service and the private sector. Prior to his appointment as FCC Chairman in June 2009, Genachowski spent 10 years working in the technology industry, where his duties included starting, accelerating and investing in early- and mid-stage technology companies. He co-founded LaunchBox Digital and Rock Creek Ventures, where he served as managing director, and he was a special advisor at General Atlantic. From 1997-2005, Genachowski was a senior executive at IAC/InterActiveCorp, a Fortune 500 company, where his positions included chief of business operations and general counsel.

Previously, Genachowski served as chief counsel to FCC Chairman Reed Hundt and as special counsel to then-FCC General Counsel William Kennard, who was later named FCC chairman. A Harvard Law School graduate, Genachowski also worked as a law clerk at the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals.

As previously announced, the NAB Show will also include "The Washington Face-Off," an informative session examining telecommunications policy issues led by FCC Commissioners Michael Copps, Mignon Clyburn and Meredith Attwell Baker.
