Sprint’s Relocation of TV Station’s 2 GHz BAS Enters Final Stretch

The nationwide relocation by Sprint Nextel of the television broadcast auxiliary service (BAS) in the 2 GHz band continues to move forward. Relocation has been successfully completed in 161 television markets covering more than 83 percent earlier this month percent of the United States population. Also, 98 percent of all replacement BAS equipment has been delivered to stations. Looking ahead, Sprint Nextel and the remaining television BAS licensees will continue to work to overcome the remaining obstacles to final completion, such as FCC licensing delays, weather interruptions, and manufacturer and installer limitations, with an eye toward completion of the nationwide relocation in mid-2010.
