K99

KUAD-FM Windsor, Colo. was one of 10 NAB Crystal Radio Award winners for 2009. Here is the summary of their 2008 community service efforts that the station submitted as part of their entry:

Broadcasting to the Front Range of northern Colorado in 2008, K99 took as much pride in the community service we provided as we did the country music we played. KUAD aired 13,700 minutes of local news and weather, keeping those in our communities abreast of issues affecting their means of living, their families and their environment. When a devastating tornado struck our listening area, narrowly missing our studios, K99 provided emergency information to our listeners; then raised $38,000 for relief efforts. Other events that we supported, and often participated in, during 2008 raised more than $560,000. We take great pride in the events that we originate ourselves for the community. In 2008, K99 held two toy drives that collected more than 1,200 toys valued at more than $14,400 for underprivileged children in our area. In April, our morning show’s 10th “28 Hours of Hope” raised $106,000 to fight child abuse in northern Colorado. Additionally, our on-air staff read to local school children and hosted numerous fundraising events throughout the year; and K99.com continued its growth as another asset in helping our community. The year marked K99’s 20th year as the country and community leader for northern Colorado.
