FCC Grants NAB's Request for Further Analysis of Revised Ownership Form
The FCC last week granted in part and denied in part an NAB Petition for Reconsideration regarding the revised Broadcast Ownership Report - FCC Form 323 - that broadcasters have to fill out every two years. The FCC earlier this year proposed expanding the requirements of the biannual form for broadcasters to collect more data, especially as it relates to minority and female ownership. NAB filed a petition opposing certain aspects of the new form, including new filing requirements for sole proprietorships and for certain non-attributable interests. The FCC granted NAB's request to further examine the non-attributable interest requirement, and are inviting public comment on the issue. No comment date has yet been set. Meanwhile, the Office and Management and Budget approved the FCC’s revision of Form 323, but the new date on which stations will need to file the form is still not yet set. NAB will alert stations when a new date is established.
