NAB has filed comments on a petition submitted by the Minority Media and Telecommunications Council (MMTC) asking the FCC to amend a variety of its rules governing radio broadcasting. NAB supported some of MMTC’s proposals, including suggestions to relax the FCC’s main studio rule and to permit certain Class C stations to specific facilities anywhere in the United States. On the other hand, NAB expressed concerns with MMTC’s proposals to make TV Channels 5 and 6 available for radio services, and to heighten the priority status of low-power FM stations as compared to FM stations and translators.
