2009 NAB Radio Show Highlights

The 2009 NAB Radio Show was a resounding success with more than 2,500 registered attendees who gathered in Philadelphia to experience incredible information and innovations from hot session topics and the latest technologies on the exhibit floor.

Wednesday, September 23
New NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith addressed the radio industry and hailed a bright future ahead. Smith’s enthusiasm for radio and broadcasting was evident, saying “It is not only an honor to stand here among you – it is also an inspiration.” Read a transcript of Smith’s address.

The Digital Think Tank Super Session and NSRC meetings led the day’s events, garnering crowds and attention, while the Exhibit Hall kicked open its doors with plenty of exhibitors offering technological solutions and services to help stations grow.

Thursday, September 24
Two Super Sessions rang in Thursday’s programming, with the Group Executives Breakfast and Group PD’s Super Session.

This year marked the first full partnership with The Jacobs Summit, which brought luminaries from media and radio such as NPR’s Terry Gross, Scott Goodstein, author Mark Hughes and from “Morning Joe,” Joe Scarborough and Mike Brzezinski.

The NAB Marconi Radio Awards Dinner and Show capped off the evening by honoring some of radio’s best and brightest. Click here for a complete list of winners.

Friday, September 25
Friday morning’s FCC Breakfast introduced the crowd to new FCC Commissioner Meredith Atwell Baker, in a session hosted by NAB Joint Board Chair Steve Newberry.

Radio Luncheon Keynote Alexis Glick was on hand to help award the National Radio Award to Ed Christian of Saga Communications. Click here for photos of all the highlights and special events.
