NAB's Satellite Uplink Operators Training Seminar a "Must Attend" for Engineers

Satellite interference costs your station time and money. Having a properly trained operator for your satellite uplink facility is essential in distributing signals for both analog and digital television. If you or your operations staff has not received formal training for operating your uplink facilities, you won’t want to miss NAB's Satellite Uplink Operators Training Seminar, which will be held October 5-8, 2009 at NAB headquarters in Washington, D.C.

The Federal Communications Commission requires a trained operator to be on hand at all times for satellite transmissions – this seminar will ensure your team is FCC compliant.

This unique seminar offering includes:

  • In-depth information on the theory of satellite communications and all operational aspects of the ground equipment for uplink and downlink facilities
  • Hands-on training in a satellite newsgathering truck
  • A half-day field trip to the PBS Satellite Operations Center

Renowned expert Sidney Skjei of Skjei Telecom will lead the seminar. Skjei has more than 20 years of experience in engineering and developing a wide range of hardware and software telecommunications products, systems and services.

Through this unique offering, NAB has trained more than 550 engineers and technicians from radio and television stations, universities and satellite services from across the U.S and abroad for nearly two decades. Don’t miss this opportunity to join the ranks of these satellite uplink experts. Space for the seminar is limited.

Comments from Prior Seminar Attendees

“I believe the seminar offers something for all levels of experience in the field and allows for a sharing of information and experiences with members of all sections of the broadcast industry.”
Timothy Mazzacua, Discovery Communications, Sterling, Va.

“I would highly recommend this course to anyone in the industry. It would be hard to believe that anyone would not benefit immensely from it!”
James Charles, EWTN, Irondale, Ala.

"This course is a must for the technical manager who wants to get a full understanding of transmissions and the technology that makes it happen. I will always be able to reflect on the information and materials that I have gained in this course and use it in decision making for future technical management decisions."
Stuart Brewton, BET, New York, N.Y.

“I enjoyed the seminar and learned a lot! The class is great and Sidney Skjei is a great instructor. I am not a technical person and only have basic satellite knowledge. I found the class to be interesting and informative and I was able to follow the discussion most of the time. The textbook is full of great information and I'm sure I will be using it as a reference in the future. I highly recommend this seminar!”
Cynthia Caezza, PBS, Alexandria, Va.
