NAB Applauds MMTC-Clear Channel Partnership

The NAB Education Foundation applauds a new partnership forged between the Minority Media and Telecommunications Council (MMTC) and Clear Channel Radio aimed at promoting diversity in radio broadcasting. Announced at MMTC's annual conference in Washington last week, Clear Channel Radio is donating several AM radio stations, which will be used by MMTC in partnership with NABEF's Broadcast Leadership Training program, to give minorities and women in broadcasting enhanced station management opportunities.

"This announcement provides a great boost to NABEF's mission of increasing diversity in broadcasting," said NABEF President Marcellus Alexander. "NABEF's Broadcast Leadership Training program has helped more than 150 radio and television broadcasters strengthen the skills necessary to acquire stations and advance their careers. The MMTC-Clear Channel Ownership Diversity Initiative will further that cause by providing our radio graduates with hands-on leadership experience."

Established in 2001, the NABEF Broadcast Leadership Training program is designed for senior-level broadcast radio and television managers seeking to advance as group executives or station owners. The program boasts an impressive track record: more than one in three graduates have either been promoted to upper-level management or launched their own media company. The intensive MBA-style Broadcast Leadership Training program is taught by leading members of the broadcast and communications community, including executive-level broadcasters, FCC staff, leading communications attorneys, members of the Wall Street and banking community and academic faculty from leading universities.
