The controversial performance royalties legislation introduced in both the House and Senate will likely not see any more attention this year despite the unforeseen extension of congressional activities on Capitol Hill. This legislation is expected to receive more attention in early 2009.

NAB urges all radio stations to visit with their local members of Congress over the recess and explain the importance of not imposing any new performance fee, tax, royalty or other charge relating to the public performance of sound recordings on a local radio station for broadcasting sound recordings over-the-air.
