On September 17, television stations across North Carolina conducted a statewide test to help their viewers prepare for the transition to all-digital broadcasting.
More than 15 stations displayed a slate with text over their analog signals alerting viewers to the February 2009 transition and directing them to resources for further information. The participating stations aired the message for one minute between 6 - 6:30 p.m.
Organized by the North Carolina Association of Broadcasters, this was the largest DTV transition test yet by broadcasters to help raise awareness among consumers.
