In an effort to educate their viewers about the transition to digital television (DTV), broadcasters in western New York found a successful recipe that mixes television and food.
As part of New York's Taste of Buffalo – considered the second largest food festival in the country – television stations in Buffalo sponsored their own extravaganza on DTV, "A Taste of DTV."
On July 12-13, the New York State Broadcasters Association, on-air talent and technical staff from WKBW-TV, WGRZ-TV, WIVB-TV, WNYO-TV, WUTV-TV, WNLO-TV, WNGS-TV and WNED-TV all came together under the same roof to inform area residents about the upcoming switch. The food festival drew more than 500,000 visitors over two days.
