The House Committee on Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Telecommunications and the Internet held a hearing June 10, on the digital television (DTV) transition. The hearing, entitled "Status of the DTV Transition: 252 days and counting," focused on the progress that broadcasters, retailers, cable companies and the government have made toward transitioning to digital television. The hearing also addressed plans by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to establish Wilmington, N.C., as a test market for the DTV transition. Paul McTear, president and CEO of Raycom Media, Inc. and member of the NAB Television Board testified on behalf of the broadcast industry.
