New Technologies: New Revenues

The explosion of new technologies creates new competition for all media, but it also creates new and lucrative opportunities for radio stations and companies willing to launch creative strategies that better serve their audiences and their advertisers. The NAB Show session "New Technologies: New Revenues," outlined specific creative strategies designed to profitably monetize interactive properties.

"New Technologies: New Revenues," presented by Deb Esayian, co-president, Emmis Interactive, covered the keys to developing high impact, measured interactive campaigns based on the positive relationship between radio stations and their audiences.

During the session, Esayian outlined her eight basic truths about best practices when using the interactive space to connect with listeners. They are:

  1. Feature key communication points
  2. Always add an "opt-in" for more components
  3. Personalization/social networking is key
  4. Participation/involvement in community is key
  5. Always provide entertainment
  6. Have a persuasive component
  7. Have a viral component
  8. Do database capture when applicable
