Central Florida Stations to Run Early DTV Tests

Beginning in June, 11 television stations in Central Florida will simultaneously shut off their analog signals for one minute on three separate occasions. The tests are aimed at helping viewers determine whether they will need to upgrade their TV sets before the national switch to all-digital broadcasting next February.

The first test is scheduled on June 25 at 7:50 p.m., and the other two will take place in September and December. Participating commercial stations in the television market, which includes Orlando, Daytona Beach and Melbourne, will promote and explain the reasoning behind the tests before each one occurs.
