WUSL-FM Philadelphia was presented with the newly-created NAB Crystal Heritage Award at the Radio Luncheon April 15 in Las Vegas.

The award was given to WUSL to recognize the station's long-term commitment to community service and to recognize the station's unprecedented achievement of receiving their fifth NAB Crystal Radio Award in 2007. In addition, the station has been a Crystal finalist on four other occasions.

"It's an extraordinary honor to win the first National Association of Broadcasters Crystal Heritage Award," said Loraine Ballard Morrill, news and community affairs director, accepting on behalf of the station.

"We entertain and we inform," said Morrill of radio's role, "but it is through our service to community that we deepen our connection to our listeners and distinguish ourselves from the riot of new media that competes for their attention."
