Huge Hispanic Crowds Expected at DTV Town Halls

In partnership with the Spanish-language television network Univision, NAB is producing a series of town hall forums to raise awareness among Hispanics in America about the upcoming transition to digital television (DTV).

The series kicked off on April 27 at the Mary Help of Christians Church in Oakland, Calif. The hour-long televised town halls are expected to draw large audiences of primarily Spanish speakers and will take place throughout the summer and fall of 2008. Eighteen are planned in some of the nation's largest Spanish-language markets, including Dallas, Sacramento, Phoenix, Raleigh and San Antonio.

This joint effort will significantly enhance outreach to Hispanics, which make up 22 percent of over-the-air households in the U.S.
