NTIA to Join Broadcasters to Provide Update on DTV Transition and Coupon Program

On Monday, April 14 at 2 p.m. (PDT), the Department of Commerce's National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) will join broadcasters for a press conference at the NAB Show in Las Vegas to provide an update on the converter box coupon program and highlight the important role of broadcasters in the transition to digital television (DTV).

NTIA Acting Administrator Meredith Baker will discuss the agency's consumer education plan, retailer participation in the coupon program and partnerships with television broadcasters.

Representatives from Univision, KSKC-TV in rural Montana and Philadelphia's WHYY-TV will share some of their best practices in communicating the DTV transition to viewers in their markets.

Minority groups, as well as people who live in rural areas and on tribal lands, are among those most disproportionately affected by the DTV transition.
