Advanced Chroma Key Strategies for Final Cut Pro
Whether you always need to use chroma key effects or only use them on occasion, this session will educate you about your options for pulling the best key. We will show you how to achieve good results with Final Cut Pro’s built-in chroma key filters, as well as explore the pros and cons of different third-party solutions. What additional hardware should you consider? Which plug-in is right for you? What can you do in preproduction to help you get cleaner keys? This session will also cover strategies for dealing with DV, uncompressed, and HD video sources.

In-Depth: Advanced Color Correction in Final Cut Pro
Color correction isn’t only about fixing improper white balance or color temperature, but also about creating a consistent look or style in your scene. Even the most technically calibrated image can be enhanced with Final Cut Pro’s powerful color correction abilities. In this session, we will show you how to use Final Cut Pro’s video scopes and range check tools to evaluate your video. You will learn how to use the color corrector filters to improve poorly shot footage, how to perform comparisons to achieve shot-to-shot consistency, and how to do spot correction to enhance specific areas of a shot.

Designing DVD Menus and Transitions with Motion
DVD Studio Pro’s menu and transition templates are nice, but eventually, you’ll want to create your own. This session will show you how to use Motion to do exactly that. See how to integrate the different software in Final Cut Studio to design looping animated video backgrounds and text, and learn how to use matting techniques to create your own transition effects. Throw Adobe Photoshop into the mix to do tricks with button overlays, add a little bit of Soundtrack Pro to create looping audio, and bring another level of
sophistication to your DVD menus.
