Washington, DC -- NAB is currently accepting entries for the 2012 Crystal Radio Awards, recognizing outstanding community service. The newly streamlined entry process is now available online, and entries are due by January 31.

Established in 1987, the NAB Crystal Radio Awards recognize radio stations for their year-round commitment to service to their communities. To enter, a station must submit an entry describing their community service efforts for the past calendar year.

"NAB is proud to recognize the hard work and commitment to community that is demonstrated by local stations," said NAB Executive Vice President, Radio, John David.

Crystal Radio Awards finalists and winners are chosen by judges with broadcast and community service backgrounds. Entry information is available on NAB's website or by calling Melek Demir at 202-775-3511.

Pete Booker, president and CEO Delmarva Broadcasting whose station, WSTW-FM, was a 2011 Crystal Award recipient, said "national recognition for outstanding community service initiatives is a wonderful shot in the arm for a station's staff, its advertisers and audience" that inspires more creativity and new initiatives.

Entry submissions must be received by January 31. The Crystal Radio Awards finalists will be revealed on March 5 (UPDATED from March 12). Winners will be announced and the finalists will be honored at the NAB Radio Luncheon. The Luncheon, sponsored by ASCAP, will be held Tuesday, April 17 during the 2012 NAB Show in Las Vegas.
