NAB LAUNCHES 2017 CONGRESSIONAL PSAs

-- Program features 279 members of Congress and their family members --

WASHINGTON, D.C.– More than 550 public service announcements (PSAs) will be distributed to television and radio stations across the country today through the 2017 NAB Congressional PSA Campaign. The program invites members of Congress and their families to be featured in free, professionally-produced spots that address issues of importance to their constituents.

This spring, 279 members of Congress (or their spouses or family members) from 47 states aparticipated in the PSA campaign. NAB has hosted the biannual campaign in off-election years since 1985.

"Hundreds of legislators and their family members are proud to share critical messages with their communities through this program," said NAB Executive Vice President Dennis Wharton. "NAB encourages broadcasters to air the PSAs as part of their committment to serving their viewers and listeners."

The PSAs will air on local stations in congressional districts or states through the end of 2017. A percentage of the spots are offered in Spanish. PSA topics included cancer prevention, emergency preparedness, healthy kids, literacy, mental health awareness, prescription drug abuse prevention, support for small business and veterarns.
