NAB
CRYSTAL RADIO AWARD PRESENTED TO KTMY-FM LAS VEGAS -- KTMY-FM Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN today was awarded the National Association of Broadcasters' Crystal Radio Award. Since 1987, the NAB Crystal Radio Awards have recognized radio stations for their outstanding year-round commitment to community service. Ten winners were chosen among 50 finalists who were honored at today's NAB Show Radio Luncheon. KTMY-FM
provided this description of its accomplishments in 2011: "Hubbard
Broadcasting's myTalk 107.1 KTMY is the Twin Cities talk station targeted
at women. With entertaining talk about people and pop culture, it's also
a place where women can discuss and learn about important community issues
like breast cancer, heart health, hunger relief, financial planning and
bullying. KTMY's unique female talk format features weekly programs like
The Waiting Room (with rotating doctors] and Dishing Up Nutrition. KTMY
organizes and promotes community education and giving, whether it's hosting
a "Food For Families" drive, a back to school supply drive,
hosting a Women's Wellness Series, collecting 3,000 prom dresses for "Operation
Glass Slipper" or collecting over 5,000 toys for Ronald McDonald
House families. In May, after a devastating tornado left hundreds in North
Minneapolis homeless, KTMY responded by helping GiveMN.org raise $600,000.
KTMY's annual "Bids for Kids" raised $41,637 for Ronald McDonald
House. The KTMY air staff spent 53 hours living together in an RV and
raised over $32,000 for local charities. And after receiving three AWM
Gracie Awards for breast cancer awareness, KTMY again dedicated October
to breast cancer education. In 2011 KTMY helped local charities to raise
over $5,488,000 and dedicated at least 10,349 PSA spots to local and national
issues." For more information on KTMY-FM's accomplishments, contact Dan Seeman at dseeman@hbi.com. Today's
