NAB CRYSTAL RADIO AWARD PRESENTED TO KBOW-AM

LAS VEGAS -- KBOW-AM Butte, MT today was awarded the National Association of Broadcasters' Crystal Radio Award. Since 1987, the NAB Crystal Radio Awards have recognized radio stations for their outstanding year-round commitment to community service.

Ten winners were chosen among 50 finalists who were honored at today's NAB Show Radio Luncheon.

KBOW-AM provided this description of its accomplishments in 2011:

"KBOW 550am has been locally-owned and operated for the past 64 years. Born in 1947, KBOW is the local voice of the people living on the Richest Hill on Earth, Butte, Montana. KBOW serves the people as their eyes, ears and voice. We are the reflection of the citizens in this area. We truly serve the community by organizing, participating, volunteering, and promoting numerous events that positively impact our community. In 2011, KBOW aired 4,500 minutes (75 hours] of Public Service Announcements. In addition, KBOW was a major sponsor of seven large events with staff contributing nearly 400 total hours. One of the major events was a two-day benefit that raised $100,000 for a 15 year old cancer victim. KBOW's staff volunteered and participated in over 30 unique groups and non-profit organizations during the past year. KBOW is proud to have the longest running talk show in the region. "Partyline" is our one-hour talk show that has aired at the same timeslot for the past 51 years! KBOW is dedicated to programming that provides information desired by the community and is formatted for the specific needs of the seven counties served in Southwestern Montana."
