Local Marketing Director, Team Lead

David Shimada is the Local Marketing Director, Team Lead for KQED. As a Local Marketing Director, he is responsible for managing and planning the solicitation and procurement of financial support from businesses generated by sales staff at KQED. Funding is garnered in support of KQED activities including, but not limited to: unrestricted underwriting support, local television production, radio productions, online and interactive projects; educational and outreach programs, special events, and goods and services contributed for on-air credits. David is accountable to KQED’s financial health and for active collaboration with all departments within KQED.
David has spoken/presented at several PBS and NPR national annual conferences, the Public Media Development and Marketing Conference and Integrated Media Association. He has also written several articles for the DEI on public radio’s fund raising and marketing service organization serving over 245 national public radio stations. In addition David has served in the past as president and board member of the San Francisco American Marketing Association, and has resided as an Advisory Board member for UC Berkeley Extension and past board member for the Direct Marketing Association.
David is an executive with over 15 years’ experience in revenue generation, strengthening relationships, market share and profitability in businesses.
David has a MBA from the Ageno School of Business - Golden Gate University, which included an international study in China and a BS in Marketing from San Diego State University.
