Director, NABPAC
EXEMPT
Basic Function: The Director of the National Association of Broadcasters Political Action Committee (NABPAC) is responsible for driving continued growth of the NABPAC in receipts and NAB member participation. The individual serves as the chief fundraiser for the NABPAC, soliciting potential donors, working with NAB Board members and NABPAC trustees in targeting potential donors, working with outside vendors to ensure that a complete program is executed to leave no potential donor untouched. In addition, the Director will construct and execute a support program that maximizes the visibility of the NAB with House and Senate campaign organizations, ensuring that all federal election regulations are followed and building opportunities for greater NAB member participation in NABPAC presentations. This individual will supervise the NABPAC Manager and report to the Chief Operating Officer.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Establish and execute a donor program that generates yearly increases in NABPAC receipts and develop strategies to achieve the goals of the NABPAC;
- Increase the number of NABPAC contributors and the number of member companies involved;
- Develop a member education campaign to increase understanding of NABPAC’s priorities.
- Ensure that all aspects of fundraising are utilized to meet annual goals;
- Develop and maintain schedule of an annual solicitation calendar;
- Draft all solicitation materials and correspondence;
- Interact with the NABPAC Trustees who will concentrate on “peer to peer” solicitations;
- Work with NABPAC trustees to contact potential donors directly to seek support for the NABPAC;
- Work with NAB’s Legal and Marketing departments to ensure that all external communications are consistent with NAB’s style guide and reflect overall positioning of NABPAC within the organization.
- Work with State Association Executives to inform them of Government Relation member’s fundraiser travel and coordinate delivering PAC checks, if necessary.
- Travel to member companies and State Association meetings to educate members about the NABPAC and the priorities.
- Work with the meetings department to plan and execute the following events: the yearly Trustee and A List retreat, NABPAC receptions at the State Leadership Conference, the NAB Show, the Small Market Television Exchange, and the Radio Show and all NABPAC hosted fundraisers.
- Work with the Manager to produce all of the materials for the three Trustee Phone blitzes per year and regular Trustee call time.
- Work with Finance to develop a conventions budget and manage the budget through the planning process;
FEC Compliance
- Work with NAB legal counsel to ensure that the NABPAC is in full compliance with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) regulations;
- Oversee the preparation and submission of the monthly reports to the FEC and the semi-annual lobbying reports for the Association;
Political Party Conventions
- Work with EVP of Government Relations and the COO to develop a strategy for NAB/NABPAC’s presence at the DNC/RNC conventions;
- Arrange travel logistics for the NAB staff members attending the conventions;
- Work with the EVP of Government Relations and the COO to optimize the President and CEO’s time at the conventions;
Perform any additional duties as assigned by the COO.
Internal Relations: In addition to supervising the Manager, this position has interaction with the entire NAB Staff and is a member of the Strategic Planning department and works extremely closely with all members of the Government Relations Department. The individual will interact with the NAB Board of Directors, the NABPAC Trustees, and influential members of the broadcast business who are NAB members, and the NAB membership.
External Relations:The Director of NABPAC, will interact with party officials, fundraising vendors, candidates for the U.S. House and Senate, members of the radio and television broadcast business, NABPAC Trustees, campaign staff, Aristotle 360 staff members, election lawyers if necessary, state broadcast association executives, A-List and Trustee event vendors and others who may come in contact with the NABPAC or the NAB.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Three years’ experience in fundraising for a campaign committee, candidate, or political action committee; or a combination of education and experience.

- Proficient in MS Office Suite products (Excel, Word) or similar type of products in a Windows environment.
