Digital Media Engineer - Science and Technology
EXEMPT
Basic Function:
Responsibilities include policy and technical support for NAB’s representation of the broadcasting industry before the FCC and other federal agencies; service to NAB member radio and television stations; and representation of NAB on industry and government/industry technical committees.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering assistance within the Science and Technology Department on assigned radio and television engineering matters and industry technical and regulatory affairs
- Analyze, research and write technically oriented policy documents for submission to government and international agencies and committees
- Represent NAB on technical matters before the FCC and other industry organizations
- Work closely with other NAB departments in providing information used in legislative and regulatory positions taken by NAB
- Serve NAB members with timely, useful information on technical matters
- Contribute written material to Science and Technology publications
- Prepare and present papers and presentations for industry conferences and other events
- Other duties and projects as may periodically be assigned by the Senior Vice President of Science and Technology
Internal Relations:
Reports to Senior Vice President, Science and Technology. Supports other NAB staff by providing subject matter expertise.
External Relations:
Join technology committees and take leadership role in national and international standards development organizations as appropriate.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- BSEE (or equivalent);
- Five years experience with digital media communication technology.
Minimum Skills and Attributes:
- Working knowledge of digital communications engineering
- Oral communication – the individual speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.
- Written communication – the individual develops letters, emails and other written materials that are clear and concise.
- Ability to effectively interact in professional and executive-level environments
