Director, Application Systems
EXEMPT
Basic Function: Management of technical projects in support of NAB technical committees, prototyping applications, managing their development, enabling their deployment, and transferring support. Execute in a timely manner all work that is assigned by NAB management.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Provide and document software designs especially for downloadable applications to enable new capabilities to enhance the consumer value of digital television broadcasting, including internet interactivity.
- Recommend and implement user interface aspects of NAB’s applications for broadcasters.
- Prepare project documentation.
- Serve NAB members with timely, useful information on technical matters, including contributing written material to Technology publications.
- Other duties and projects as may periodically be assigned.
Internal Relations: Technology Department Members
External Relations: NAB Technology Committee members
Consumer product operating environment support personnel
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline. Masters in Software Engineering preferred;
- Two years of software coding in a C-level language, with product development experience covering at least seven years of software operating environment design and development.
- At least seven years of experience in one or more of Android, Java(family), iOS, Windows API is necessary; preferably on mobile/handheld devices.
- Experience should include implementing IP stack bindings.
- Experience implementing per HbbTV, DLNA, UPnP or HTML5.0 is desirable.
Minimum Skills and Attributes:
- Strong project management skills with ability to effectively persuade in professional and executive-level environments inside and outside NAB.
- Able to implement downloadable applications and effectively transfer that technology for deployment by many broadcasters.
