Accounting Manager

Position Summary

Maintain integrity of the general ledger while ensuring accurate and timely accounting (in compliance with GAAP). This position will serve as a primary liaison between the Finance team and outside departments. The individual will support full cycle accounting, financial reporting, variance analysis and budgeting.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Review or prepare monthly journal entries as needed. These include monthly adjusting entries, accruals and other recurring transactions.
  • Perform review of balance sheet and income statement accounts to ensure proper recording of financial transactions for all entities.
  • Perform variance analysis and meet monthly with Finance management team and assigned departments to review and discuss variances.
  • Act as primary advisor to all departments on proper recording of financial transactions and finance team processes.
  • Provide recommendations for policy/procedure improvements and compliance.
  • Analyze and present ad-hoc financial reports, providing insight and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Oversee all work prepared by Senior Accountant.


  • Support the audit process by reviewing and/or preparing PBC assigned items, schedules and respond to audit inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Prepare financial reports, footnotes and schedules required for audit report.
  • Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls.


  • Support the 990 filing process by compiling necessary information, completing schedules and inputting into the external tax software system.
  • Ensure compliance with all form 990 requirements.
  • Research and interpret new regulations pertaining to form 990.
  • Respond to inquiries from external tax advisors.


  • Support the budget cycle by collaborating with assigned departments and assisting in the overall process.
  • Work closely with departments to ensure budget deadlines are met.
  • Ensure budget templates are accurate and complete.
  • Work with assigned departments to compile narratives and other information needed to support and justify their budget for the year.

Other duties as assigned by the Senior Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller and/or the Controller.

Additional Requirements

CPA designation preferred.

Advanced MS Excel skills required.

Judgment – the individual displays willingness to make decisions, exhibits sound and accurate judgment and makes timely decisions.

Knowledge of mid-size accounting software (Great Plains preferred) and treasury management systems.

Ability to meet daily deadlines and work in a fast-paced office environment.
