Congressional Public Service Announcements 2007

The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) is pleased to announce the release of the second volume from the Congressional Families Public Service Announcement (PSA) program. Due to an overwhelming response from congressional participants, NAB has produced additional localized PSAs featuring more members of Congress and their families. For the past two decades this effort has alerted and informed families on important social and health issues in their communities. This year, with the inclusion of members of Congress for the first time, these messages are even stronger.

PSAs

Stations are encouraged to air these PSAs frequently to demonstrate your ongoing commitment to serving your local community.  This is a great way to show your federal representatives the power and reach of local broadcasters. To view the participant(s) from your state, please click here.

TV

To order a free dub of the participant(s) from your state, please email nationalcampaigns@nab.org or call (202) 429-5448.

Radio

Radio stations can download radio PSAs here. Please select a state from the menu below:

Important Information

If an opponent to the member featured on this PSA re-nomination qualifies to be on the 2008 ballot, stations should consult with legal counsel about further airing of the PSAs since opposing candidates would have equal opportunities rights. (Note: opposing candidates at this stage do not include candidates for another party’s nomination.) To ensure compliance with Federal Election Laws, do not air these PSAs after November 30, 2007.

Once the member featured in this PSA qualifies to be on the 2008 ballot for his or her party primary or caucus, stations must note in the Political File every time this PSA is aired. Those notations should be placed in the file as soon as possible, preferably the same day that the PSA airs. If you have any questions, you can contact your station counsel or the NAB Legal Department at 866-682-0276.
