In today's ever changing world, cutting edge technology is having a profound effect on our industry and the way we do business. NAB continues to work with policy makers and business leaders to ensure that the interests of the broadcasting community are heard as these technologies develop.

What is a PAC?

A PAC is a Political Action Committee used by trade associations, small and large businesses and corporations to support candidates for public office. PACs rely on voluntary contributions from people united for the purpose of electing candidates who support their interests.

What is NABPAC? Political Leadership Protecting Your Business

NABPAC is completely bipartisan, working to elect pro-broadcaster members of Congress to further broadcasters' agenda on Capitol Hill.

Candidates supported by NABPAC are evaluated on their merits and their understanding of the broadcast industry. NABPAC utilizes a questionnaire on radio and television issues that must be completed by candidates without an established legislative record requesting NABPAC support.

NABPAC is the only political action committee that exists solely to further the goals of America's broadcasters. Since its inception over three decades ago, NABPAC has worked to ensure broadcasters speak with a unified voice and have an influential federal political presence.

An Investment in Your Future

NABPAC is the premiere advocacy organization working aggressively to elect pro-broadcaster candidates to the United States Congress. It is imperative that those on Capitol Hill understand the daily needs of your business, and the unique challenges that radio and television stations face. Last year in 2006, NABPAC supported more than 200 pro-broadcaster candidates seeking office; 93 percent of those candidates were elected to Congress.

We are building a team of broadcasting advocates in Congress – but there is more work to be done. NAB draws on the strength of its talented government affairs professionals in Washington, supported by its strong grassroots network of broadcasters that are actively involved in their communities. Combined with a growing NABPAC, these elements provide broadcasters with a strong political presence in the corridors of power on Capitol Hill.

Why Join NABPAC?

Broadcasters must stand united in the presence of challenges facing our business today. With the election of a new Congress, NABPAC needs your support to build new sustainable relationships with legislators. Your generous support will help us continue to aggressively demonstrate the tremendous value broadcasters bring to the local communities they serve.

The question is – are these issues important to you and the future of your business?

  • Preventing the re-establishment of the fairness doctrine
  • Keeping retransmission consent negotiations fair and market-driven
  • Opposing a satellite radio monopoly
  • Stopping unconstitutional attempts to restrict advertising on radio and television
  • Educating consumers about transition to digital television
  • Ensuring new performance taxes are not levied on radio broadcasts
  • Protecting digital video and audio programming from theft
  • Modernizing media ownership rules
  • Rolling out HD Radio

If so, you can't afford not to support NABPAC. Advocacy is not just having the right position on issues; it's about helping elect lawmakers who understand our business.

How Do I Join the "A List?"

Members of NABPAC's prestigious "A List" make a personal contribution of $5,000 in a calendar year (the maximum amount allowed under federal law). In addition to receiving two complimentary registrations to the NAB Show, and their choice of two complimentary registrations to either the Service To America Gala, the NAB Radio Show or the Small Market Television Exchange, "A List" members are invited to attend a special weekend getaway with other broadcast leaders who understand the business value of having a strong political presence.

How do I Become a Contributor?

Getting involved is simple. On the NABPAC Web site you can easily click on the "Contribute Now" button at the top right of this page and become a NABPAC member in minutes! By making a personal contribution to NABPAC, you will ensure broadcasters have a strong political voice in our nation's capital.
